I was asked to create an Ex Libris that would be given as a wedding gift.

 

With their wedding the bride and groom unite four cultures, which I all wanted to capture in this Ex Libris. The Chinese and Canadian roots of the groom as well as the Polish and Dutch ones of the bride. Their origins can be found in the Chinese marriage symbolism of the phoenix and dragon, surrounded by Canadian mountains and book pages that turn into waves which represent the Dutch water. The illustration is inspirired by Polish wycinanki designs.

 

It was quite an honour to design an Ex Libris that would unite their entire book collection as well!
